SOJC IntroDUCKtion 2025-2026

Welcome, new SOJC students!

Congratulations on your acceptance to the University of Oregon. We are excited to begin working with you.

(transfer students see below, first years scroll down to that section):

Transfer students: [Students who have attended at least one other college or university]

REMOTE ADVISING: Once you have signed up for your in-person IntroDUCKtion session and claimed your DuckID, you will receive an email providing instructions on how to schedule your remote one-on-one academic advising zoom meeting. Be sure to check your @uoregon.edu email address for that advising meeting scheduling link.

BEFORE your advising meeting, plan to spend about an hour on these tasks

  • Listen to our SOJC 101 playlist! This is a podcast produced by the SOJC Undergraduate Student Success Team. You can listen on Spotify or on our website here (transcripts can also be found on our website if needed).
    • Listen to the following:
      • “Finding Resources and Support on Campus”
      • “Finding the Right Academic Minor for You”
      • “Getting Involved on Campus”
      • “How to Talk to New People”
      • The “Meet Your Team” episode for the advisor you will be meeting with for your appointment.
  • Fill out your incoming transfer student pre-advising form.
  • Take your placements:
    • If doing a Bachelor of Science: take the ALEKS Math Placement
    • If doing a Bachelor of Arts – choose one:
      • Continuing a language, then take the language placement for your respective language
      • Starting a new language, then no placement is needed and we will get you into the intro 101 level of your new language in the fall.
  • Try logging into DuckWeb. Make sure to bring your UO 95# and PAC for DuckWeb to your appointment
  • Send in final transfer transcripts: If you have not already, send in any remaining transcripts from your transfer institution. More info here on how to do so.
  • Follow all steps as outlined here on the IntroDUCKtion checklist

For your transfer zoom advising appointment:

    • Plan for a meeting that can take up to an hour. We look forward to guiding and empowering you to make these early academic decisions. Our expectation is that this meeting will just be with you and your advisor.
    • Access zoom through a laptop or desktop computer, if possible. A tablet could also work. The least ideal connection would be through a smartphone app.
    • Have your DuckWeb login information handy (95- UO student ID number and 6-digit PAC).
    • Write down any questions that might have come up for you at this point after you’ve reviewed the podcasts above and/or done your community.uoregon.edu assignments.
